History
A family property located in the heart of the Val de Vienne, the Charles Joguet estate extends over 30 ha planted with Cabernet Franc and 2 ha with Chenin Blanc.
A forerunner of the parcel-based approach in Chinon, from the end of the 1950s, the vineyards, spread out on both banks of the Vienne, express the rich diversity of terroirs that the Chinon appellation offers.
Vines
Cultivated in organic agriculture since 2008, the vineyard and the wines are certified Ecocert (AB) since the 2016 vintage.
The work in the vineyard and the soil is adapted to each parcel of land throughout our vineyard to allow each of our vines to flourish in the best conditions.
This care taken throughout the year favours small yields, good sanitary conditions and consequently good balance and concentration of the grapes: 25 hl/ha for the Clos de garde and 40 hl/ha for the fruit wines.
The vines are harvested by hand by a team of 40 cutters and pickers who go through the rows, selecting the most beautiful grapes...
Cellar
From sandy soils to clay-limestone terroirs, no less than 7 parcel-based vintages are produced each year in Cabernet Franc - red wine and one white wine - Chenin Blanc.
Each plot is vinified separately and benefits from a personalised maturing process in order to express the potential of its terroir to the fullest: from fruit wines to be enjoyed young to great wines for laying down: it is a taste journey through the different climates that our wines offer.
Team
A family property, it is a team of 6 people that surrounds Jacques Genet, Kevin Fontaine (vineyard & wine) and Anne-Charlotte Genet (marketing).
She travels through the vineyards, participates in the vinification, follows the quality of our wines, vat by vat, barrel by barrel, with the concern of a meticulous, precise and respectful work of our environment.
