        Press Millésime 2018 :

In Vino Veritas, 2020: A favourite!"This is a magnificent hillside on the left bank of the Vienne, on the edge of the Chinon A.O.C., with a white clay-limestone soil that is very well suited to white Chenin. The material is chiselled, with a frank verticality on the attack. The nose reveals smoky notes due as much to the ripeness of the grapes as to the ageing on the lees in demi-muids. The latter has also brought fatness to the middle of the mouth. Good persistence on the freshness of citrus fruits and minerality".

        Vintage 2016 press :

17 / 20 - Le Figaro, 2019 : "What a superb wine! White Chinon, an appellation overshadowed by the dominance of the reds, and yet deserving of the greatest interest, as this vintage demonstrates with ease, with subtle notes of grilled hazelnut, citrus and peach resting on a mineral base. The palate is precise, remarkably lively and of good length. A must try. "15 / 20 - RVF - Guide 2019 - "After a generous 2015, the 2016 Clos de la Plante Martin remains ripe, but with a tonic tension that balances it. "90 / 100 Wine Enthusiast, 2019 : "This dry, spicy wine has the typical nutty aromas of Chenin Blanc cut through with intense acidity. Its freshness has calmed into a rich, full wine, tight with minerality as well as sliced apple and citrus flavors. "90 / 100 - Wine Spectator, 2019 : "This shows an enticing bouquet of elderflower and lilac on the nose, while the palate offers more restraint. Picks up flavors of yellow apple and nectarine midpalate, along with cardamom and sea salt accents that linger. Nuanced, focusing more on a silky texture and minerally structure, with high acidity for backbone. Drink now through 2023."

        Press milestone 2013 :

15,5 / 20 - RVF - Guide 2016Vin Québec, 2018 : "Next is a (rare) white Chinon: Clos de la Plante Martin 2013, made from 100% Chenin Blanc. In the Loire, 2013 is reputed to be a very good vintage, whose dry white wines are generally still young, but are beginning to be accessible. This 3 ha plot, entirely planted with chenin blanc, on limestone soil, has just been attached to the AOC Chinon (in fact, this 2013 still carries the Touraine appellation). The nose is intense, very fruity, lemony, mineral, with beeswax, honey and a nice floral note: a classic Chenin Blanc. It is fat on the palate (slightly oily), with a marked acidity (did not do the malo) and a very juicy, dry, fruity, slightly salty and very, very long finish. Superb! and still very young. "Le Figaro, 2019 : "The wine expresses itself with elegance through subtle petroleum mineral notes that accompany the fruit. The palate is ample and concentrated, with beautiful bitters.

        2012 vintage press :

        15 / 20 - RVF - Guide 2015 : "Nice tonic white in 2012, quite complete and long.

        Vines

This magnificent hillside on the left bank of the Vienne, located on the edge of the Chinon A.O.C., is a truly exceptional clay-limestone terroir for Chenin Blanc. This is why we have chosen this terroir over all others of the appellation to best reveal the identity and complexity of this grape variety. Today it covers just over three hectares (planted between 1994 and 1999). Average yield: 20 to 30 hl/ha, sometimes less.

        Vinifications

The harvest is carried out in several stages, by successive sorting as the grapes ripen.
The juice obtained by pneumatic pressing is then vinified in 225-litre barrels. For this we use 1/3 new barrels and 2/3 barrels of one wine or more.
The very slow fermentation in the coolness of a very cold cellar (5° to 13°C maximum) will reveal the aromas and structure of this pure chenin. Regular batonnage (stirring of the must) helps the wine to nourish itself on its fine lees.
After about 3 months of fermentation and a further 4 to 6 months of maturing, the wine is blended in stainless steel vats, so that it will blend intimately for some time while awaiting bottling. Several months in the cellar before being brought to market finish the maturing of this product, which is very faithful to its exceptional terroir.

Clos de la Plante Martin 2015 - 91/100

"The 2015 Touraine Clos de la Plante Martin offers an intense yet pure and chalky bouquet with a pretty attractive and smoky reduction. Due to the warm and sunny vintage, it is darker toned and richer on the nose than the bright and fresh 2016. The palate is full-bodied and round but also very fresh and mineral, finishing with lingering salinity and stimulating freshness. It's another far too young Chenin Blanc whose finesse is really remarkable for the 2015 vintage. There are a bit more tannins here, and the wine needs a richer dish to show its elegance."
